Recently, I had a request for a feminine Bob Dylan- inspired outfit and I got on it as soon as I could. At first, I thought it would be difficult but when I browsed through some more of his photos and realized he mostly dressed the same, I knew I could handle it. Also some research on 60’s fashion did me well 😉 Occasionally, when people try to copy one’s fashion that may have been from decades ago, they go with the exact same look and choose the same pieces, and that’s where they are mistaken! When you look up towards someone’s fashion (especially from years before your time), you want to pull out pieces that stand out to you or ones that may represent the time period of the given person’s fashion well. This is because what was in, might not so be in this time and the fact that you want to give your outfit your personal touch…
In the inspiration photo that was given to me to focus on, I noted that he mostly wore bland and gray/black tones so I decided to turn up the volume, for this is the 21st century! I knew I wanted to start with somewhat statement/ enclosed shoes and searched up “wingtip heels” right away! After that, the process became swift; I chose straight, black cropped pants to lead the eye into the heel. Next, I looked for a structured blouse with color and paired that with a black blazer. Lastly, accessories were a breeze- the 60’s were all about polka dots so that’s the pattern I decided to go with for the bag. I added vintage CHANEL logo earrings to finish off the look. And if it’s a sunny day, ultimately we know the style of sunglasses the legend always wore!
